This time out I hiked the old Paradise Park Trail up to the last tree. The trail is an old horse trail the CCC build so it does a nice gradual climb up to Paradise Park and all of the flower meadow. The official trails ends where it intersects the Paradise Park Loop trail but a user trail continues up another mile or more. I found a number of large trees had fallen across the the trail that took some effort to get over or around or under. Adds to the workout.
A storm front was coming in so by the time I got up to Paradise Park Mt. Hood was staring to be covered by clouds. Prime flower season had past but still in spot there was still some good flower color.
The hike by the numbers – 17 1/3 miles, 3650 ft. elevation gain with 10 hour on trail.
