I had one last piece of the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail and I finish it today. The Freeway section of the trail had a very bad problem with homeless squatters in this area. The city of Vancouver had clear out the squatters on the rest of the trail so I thought it was safe to scout this last section. I found it mostly clear with no tents and just two folks with mental problems along the trail. I walked down to the West end of the trail and back and explored the Ellan Davis Trail. My walk was 7 miles with 670 ft. elevation gain in 3 hours.
Burnt Bridge Creek Trail East Walk
Wedging in between two rainy frontal systems I got in an exploratory walk of Eastside trail of the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail in Vancouver, WA. During the pandemic Lori and I tried to walk this trail but the area had been taken over by the homeless and the drug addicts’. Although the remanence of that time still remain I did not see a tent any where.
Brunt Bridge Creek Greenway Trail Walk
I have wanted to explore more of Brunt Bridge Creek Trail in Vancouver, WA but up to now have not been able to find away around the homeless camps under and around the Freeway. In taking another look at the maps I found what I had hope would be a good starting point. So I set out for my exploratory walk from Leverich park that connected onto the Brunt Bridge Creek Greenway. I found the trail tent free but I could see lots of spots that had been homeless camps. I did a 6 mile out and back walk with my turn around point at Meadow Homes Park. It surprised me how interesting this urban trail was. There is still more trail for me to explore and I hope the squatter problem is over.
Burnt Bridge Creek Greenway Trail Walk
I went for an exploratory walk this Sunday morning between rain fronts. I have been wanting to check out the first part of this trail for several years but I had heard the homeless situation was bad. I thought I would go until I hit the first tent then turn back. Fortunately, I was able to go a couple of miles, through some beautiful area, before hitting the first tent. I also did a little side trip to see the Gnome Trail. A fun project being done by locals in the area.
