Tom McCall Preserve Hike

Lori, Jeanette, Marylyn and I had a short (2.2 mile) but very scenic hike in The Gorge at Tom McCall Preserve. We lucked out on the weather and managed to slip our hike in just before the rain came in. Afterwards we went went to Backwoods Brewing for lunch.

Wahkeena Falls to Devils Rest Hike

This was to be the last sunny day for a while so I wanted to get out for a hike while it was nice. So I went for Wahkeena up to Devils Rest and some checking out some of the new trails. I had seen post about Wahkeena having a major landslide and that the trail was open again so I want to see what had gone on. I found the slide was major but they had done an outstanding job of getting the trail open again. The hike offered a lot of scenic beauty and some challenges you often fine. All made for a good day out.

Hardy Ridge Hike

I returned to Hardy Ridge to get some exercise on a dry mild day. I started out in the fog but ended in sunshine. I had three different GPS device going and all gave different readings. It average out to about 8 miles, 2000 ft. elevation gain and on the trail for about 4 1/2 hours.

Hardy Ridge Hike

I got my new Washington Discovery Pass so I decided to put it to use with a hike up to Hardy Ridge at Beacon Rock State Park. The forecast was for a nice clear sunny day and I needed to get some exercise so more reason for hike. I went up the East side trail and went to Phlox Point. Returned the same route. This may have been the first time this year to have clear views of Gorge and Mountains. I was surprised when I pulled into the parking lot at the Equestrian Trailhead and found the lot almost full. Turned out at WTA was having a workday and had a good turnout of volunteers. Just a few people on the hiking trails.

East Gorge Road Trip

On this road trip to the East side of the Columbia River Gorge was to see some new places and visit to old spots and see how they have changed. Visiting several places on a wonder of the East side of the Columbia River Gorge. Lori, Jeanette, Sylvie and my self started off at the new Mitchell Point Tunnel to experience the wind tunnel effect it can have. Next was lower trail at Catherine Creek to see the late season flowers. We then drove through the Schreiner Wildlife Farm a new place for Sylvia. The initial plan was to do a short hike at Dallas Mt. Ranch but we found the big flower show was over so we moved on to see the petroglyph gallery, some then else new for Sylvia. Finally some thing new for me we did a wine tasting at Sunshine Mill. We finished up with lunch at the Bargeway Pub where I had a wonderful coco stout from Sunriver Brewery.
