A clockwise hike of Hardy Ridge Loop hike. 8.8 miles, 2200 elv. gain, about 5.25 hrs. on trail.
Leaving from the Equestrian Parking lot at Beacon Rock State Park
Start by hiking up old road bed
Lots of Thimbleberry was in bloom
This time I started on the West side trail
On the trail with a view of that ridge
Here you depart from the roadbed and start on new trail
Sign show how steep the trail gets.
Many patches of Wood Anemone
Lots of False Solomon's-Seal was blooming
The tree leaf canopy is filling out
This log took some effort to get over
Summit sign leans against a rock face now
Not a good day for scenic photos
On the ridge trail
Bonneville Dam
Hamilton Mt.
Saskatoon Serviceberry was blooming everywhere
White Spirea was in bloom
HardyRidge__DVR9650
The Indian Paintbrush was everywhere
Indian Paintbrush fresh and colorful
Indian Paintbrush
Arnica blooming
This was my turn around point
Trail heading down lined with Vanilla leaf and False Solomon's-Seal
Further down the trail fewer plants
Back down to walking the road on East side
Last road stretch to get to my car
Of Note- This is the first time I have done this trail clockwise. Coming up the West side is shorter but steeper. The Indian Paint brush we exceptionally nice. Low cloud cover and haze mad for bad scenic photos.
A hike in Beacon Rock State Park up to Hardy Ridge. The ridge had great views of the Gorge and lots of wild flowers in full bloom. The hike was about 9 miles, 2300 elevation gain and on the trail for a little under 6 hours
